He travelled for 5 days through the biggest forest he had ever seen. The forest was dark in some places and light in others. In the light places there were lovely bright red leaves on the old trees, but in the dark the leaves had all hardened and gone cold and many had fallen to the ground. He hated the dark places, because he always heard rustling and footsteps in there. But in the bright places there was nothing but silence. Eventually he met the fox. “go get out of here! You have 1 day to run away or you will turn into a tree and they will come chasing after you! “ he said. Then the fox ran away into the dark and disappeared. The boy thought he saw a tree move, but he shoock his head and he thought he needed a lie down.

The next day he slowly opened his eyes and saw he was the height of a tree! Then he turned his head round and saw he was a tree. NO!!!!! And then he woke up. It was all a dream…….. Or was it??? He looked at his legs. They had turned tree colour and were covered in bark. He tried to move his hands but it was very difficult and they also were covered in bark. But the rest of his body was fine, but a little bit stiff. The fox was right, he thought to himself. Then again he saw a tree move. Then another and another and another!!! He started to run away but he couldn’t run as fast as he used to because his body was very hard to move. The trees had started to run and now were opening their arms to say I’ve got you!! Then he saw the bushes moving their roots to try and trip him over. As he was looking behind him he tripped over. The trees and bushes were just about to pick him up, when the fox stood in their way. “Go away,“ he said. All the trees finally stopped and headed for the fox but the fox swooped from side to side and all the trees kept on falling over. It was quite dramatic. All the trees suddenly started to turn into soil. Then all of a sudden they all sunk into the ground and turned into worthless pieces of bark. Finally they disappeared into the air. The boy was getting more scared so he decided to leave the crazy forest. Soon the forest lay behind him and he set across a grassy plain. |
