Thursday 22nd June
Quote of the day -
Almost all of the girls in Year 6: "Tula, can you do my hair for the disco please?"
We have all had another great day at Little Canada!
All of the children were fast asleep at 7am this morning! After a sleepy walk up to the dining room, everyone felt much better after a yummy breakfast. We could choose from porridge, cereal, toast, bacon, vegetarian sausages and tomato. There have been lots of climbing activities today - some of the children have had a go at abseiling, Jacob's Ladder (they had to work collaboratively to climb to the top and help each other up to the next platform), trapeze and 'Catwalk'. Some of the children have had a go at fencing and other groups had a go at aeroball and archery. All of the children feel very proud of themselves for climbing higher than they have before on the climbing activities and overcoming their fears. Some of them even managed to reach the trapeze and some children even scored a bulls-eye at archery!
For lunch we could choose from: jacket potato, rice, chilli con carne, tuna mayonnaise or cheese. Lots of the children enjoyed a salad from the salad bar with their lunch too. For dinner this evening we could choose from chicken tikka with rice and a poppadum, vegetarian lasagne or stuffed peppers. For pudding we had chocolate-crispie cake! Everyone found something to eat and especially enjoyed their pudding.
After dinner, we visited the shop for the last time. Again, everyone enjoyed eating their sweets, ice cream and drinking their fizzy drinks!
The children are now packing all of their muddy clothes ready to bring home to you all! Then it will be time for them to get ready for the disco, Tula already has a queue of girls who want their hair plaiting for the disco and lots of the boys have already chosen their outfits! Some of the boys are also glad that they can finally put some more gel in their hair! We know they can't wait to dance to their favourite songs with their friends.
Tomorrow morning, all of the children will have a go at 'Tunnel Trail' and some of them will try Jacob's Ladder, whilst others have a go at aeroball. After lunch we will pack all of their belongings on the coach before beginning our journey back to Meridian. Hopefully we will have chance to put some more photos on the website before we leave.
The children have all had a great week and it has been a brilliant trip. All of the adults are really proud of Year 6, they have participated enthusiastically on the activities and tried their best - it has been a pleasure to watch them grow in confidence throughout the week and feel really proud of themselves when they achieve something new! They have encouraged each other on the activities, worked well together as a team and given everything a go. Some of them can't believe they climbed to the top of the abseiling tower, completed Jacob's Ladder, kayaked in the sea and shot an arrow at archery! They have been excellent representatives of Meridian, we are really proud of them all. They can't wait to tell you all about their week - we'll see you tomorrow!
