Parental support, interest and encouragement, particularly in the early stages of education can make a big difference to the way in which children progress.

Homework is set weekly on a regular basis as part of the normal routine in order to support and extend the work taking place in the classroom. The amount given may vary according to the subject and the needs and ability of the child. The children are positively taught how to manage their homework and how to deal with any problems sensibly and independently.

With all homework tasks, parents can help a great deal by working with their child to establish a routine for completing the tasks given on time. It helps if a child can work in a quiet place with a desk or some table space of their own, where they can learn to organise their books, pens and any other equipment regularly used.
